CFI On Campus Welcomes New Field Organizer Cody Hashman
January 30, 2013
My name is Cody Hashman and I’m the newest field organizer in CFI’s Outreach Department. While this position is a new one for me, working at CFI headquarters is not—my first position was a summer internship in 2011. After the internship ended, I worked part-time at CFI while pursuing a graduate degree in cognitive psychology at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo.
Over the past two and a half years, I’ve assisted with CFI’s summer Student Leadership Conferences, designed and distributed CFI outreach and promotional materials, and helped CFI branches and student groups raise over $25,000 for the Light the Night campaign.
Prior to graduate work at SUNY Buffalo I attended the University of Northern Iowa, where I cofounded the University of Northern Iowa Freethinkers & Inquirers (UNIFI). As UNIFI president, I organized the first ever Darwin Week, participated in and helped organized a monthly interfaith dialogue event called “Grab a Brew, Share Your View,” and coordinated an extensive set of intellectual and social events that helped UNIFI establish itself as a very successful group on campus. I hope to translate the successes I had with UNIFI to my outreach work here with CFI.
I am beyond excited to be a part of the Outreach team at CFI and to help advance its important mission. While you can get in touch with me via my seldom-used Twitter handle, @codshash, feel free to contact me via Facebook or shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, keep an eye out for my weekly Music Monday blog posts on The Course of Reason.
